How You Can Help

You can help in many ways!

Our top priority is stopping the $1.9 billion Purple Line. State transportation planners now acknowledge that the Purple Line is not designed to take cars off the road but to simply shift riders from buses to trains … on what is currently a nature trail between Bethesda and Silver Spring. Help us stop this expensive and reckless plan!

Volunteer! Friends of the Capital Crescent Trail is currently gathering signatures on a petition to the Montgomery County Council in support of keeping the trail’s Wisconsin Avenue tunnel open. The council is expected to vote in early May 2012 on whether to close the tunnel to trail users and re-route the trail over busy commercial streets in downtown Bethesda. Help us gather signatures on the petition to stop this unsafe proposal! To volunteer, send an email to FCCT president Ajay Bhatt at ajay.bhatt@savethetrail.org.

May 26, 2012 Save the Trail! 5K. We also welcome volunteers for the annual charity race that helps support our cause. Volunteers are needed on race day at Elm Street Park in Chevy Chase and during the week leading up to the race. To volunteer, send an email to raceinfo@savethetrail.org. (And to sign up to run the race, click on this link.)

Yard signs are here! Display your support for the Capital Crescent Trail with a “Save the Trail” lawn sign in your front yard. Order one now by sending an email to info@savethetrail.org.
